The four main national news programs (Jornal Nacional, Jornal do SBT, Jornal da Band e Jornal da Record) have shown brazilians an average of around 13 minutes of violence scenes per day between November 1st, 2013 and January 31st, 2021. It corresponded to 17% of total news duration in that period. More than an average of 54 minutes per day where dedicated to negative themes, corresponding to 54% of total airing time. Positive content about were the main theme of a daily average of 13 minutes (or 18% of total participation).

Stats are serious, considering the agreement between specialists that there is a cause and effect correlation between violence shown in consumed media and violent actions by viewers in a nearby future. In the same way, the approach from media in the matter of violence has always been targeted to provoking negative sensations – instead of encouraging a solution towards the matter. Too much of those feelings helps to build a scared, tense and sick society.
